International Women’s Day Celebration Thursday 5th March

International Women’s Day, Celebration, Thursday

When and where is it on?

Thursday 5th March, 8am-11am, at the Convention Centre, Dublin 1.

How many years has it been going?

This is Accenture’s 16th annual celebration of International Women’s Day. It is the largest industry celebration in the country with over 1,600 guests expected to attend on the day.

What was the inspiration to start it?

This celebration is one of the most important dates in Accenture’s calendar annually. It started out as a platform to demonstrate our strong commitment to workplace equality, as well as a desire to have conversations about provoking change. Although this is only one day in the year, the hope is that our audience of women and men will feel inspired to contribute to a more equal and inclusive world.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

The event will see Accenture host a series of panel discussions exploring Ireland’s equality journey over the past 50 years, and how it’s closing the equality progress gap. This is also a special year for Accenture as it celebrates 50 years operating in Ireland. There will be a range of leading figures from business, technology, Government and media. Centred on the theme of ‘Getting to Equal’, this year’s event focuses on what it means to be an inclusive leader, looks at the challenges of sustaining an inclusive culture and reflects on the importance of good mental wellbeing at work.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

This year the event is all about marking the achievements of women across Ireland from all walks of life. We truly hope our guests feel inspired by our speakers, both men and women, who have advocated for equality throughout their lives. It’s also an opportunity for guests to network, share experiences and stories over breakfast before and after the show.

Who will be speaking?

Myself and Alastair Blair, Country Managing Director will host among others Anne Anderson, former Ambassador of Ireland to the United States, the United Nations, the European Union, France and Monaco; Margot Slattery, Global Inclusion & Diversity Officer at Sodexo and one of Ireland’s foremost voices on female representation; Martin Shanahan, CEO, IDA Ireland; Damien Clarke, co-founder Zeminar; Georgie Crawford, journalist and host of The Good Glow podcast and Prof Brian MacCraith, President, Dublin City University. Kathy Sheridan and The Irish Times Women’s Podcast will also record live from the IWD stage.
