Jamie Heaslip joins little patients to celebrate the launch of Techies4TempleStreet charity treasure trail

Temple Street Ambassador and rugby legend Jamie Heaslip paid a very special visit to Temple Street recently to help little patients launch this year’s Techies4TempleStreet – the hugely-popular tech-themed treasure trail – which is set to return to the streets of Dublin on Friday, 19th June.

Techies4TempleStreet, proudly supported by lead sponsor AIB, will kick off from the RDS and will see teams from some of Ireland’s leading companies make their way across the city to chase clues, solve puzzles and complete a whole range of challenges and brain-teasers in the hope of claiming the title of ‘Ireland’s Smartest Techies’ – an accolade that went to 2019 winning team ‘Zen Mob’, representing Zendesk.

Now in its sixth year, Techies4TempleStreet will see over 1,600 members of Ireland’s technology and business communities compete to win the coveted Techies4TempleStreet Champions’ Trophy. As well as being a fun-filled and exciting event, Techies4TempleStreet is an ideal team-building day as colleagues put their heads together to gain points, complete challenges and bid to win the trophy.

To date, the unique charity treasure trail has raised over €1.1million for CHI at Temple Street, with funds being put to work where they are needed most to buy vital, life-saving equipment and help fund essential facilities and supports – benefitting sick children and their families when they need it most.

Temple Street Ambassador Jamie Heaslip says: “I am thrilled to help launch the 2020 Techies4TempleStreet challenge.  Back in 2015, I visited Temple Street to kick off the inaugural Techies event and since then, I have watched it grow and grow, as more companies came on board to take on the challenge and raise vital funds for sick children. As Ambassador, I’m proud to say that this event has raised a total of €1.1million to date and hope that companies across Dublin and beyond will continue to take part, support and help change little lives for the better in Temple Street.”

Denise Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Temple Street Foundation – which is part of the Children’s Health Foundation – says: “Techies4TempleStreet is one of the most innovative, exciting and fun events in the year and we are thrilled to launch the 2020 challenge with the help of our friend and Ambassador Jamie Heaslip. Techies has been warmly embraced by the country’s business and tech communities and has become an annual tradition for so many companies. The funds raised at this year’s Techies4TempleStreet will go to support little patients and their families in CHI at Temple Street and will help support the essential, life-saving work that happens in our hospital, every minute of every day. Our warmest thanks to Jamie for helping us to launch this year’s Techies4TempleStreet and to our wonderful lead sponsors AIB, whose support helps make this event possible.”

Declan Rundle, AIB Technology’s Head of Strategy, Performance & Change says: “AIB is delighted to be backing Techies4TempleStreet as lead sponsor for the 3rd year running. This is an wonderful event which raises awareness and support for an incredible cause. Over the past number of years we have had teams made up of AIB staff and our technology partners, which has been a great way to build relationships while raising funds to help Temple Street Children’s Hospital. We look forward to participating in this enjoyable team building day out again this year, trekking across Dublin to seek out clues and hidden treasures. I’d encourage everyone out there to get involved.”
